APRIL 2006 CLUB NEWSLETTER |
Good day to all, and wasn't the weather a lot better in March compared to February. We had a great showing at the annual meeting. I was really impressed to see all that drove their Scouts to the meeting. First things first, I would like to thank everyone that helped put this annual meeting together. Bob Supplee of Supplee 4WD for his hospitality for letting us have the meetings at his place; Jack McClary for cooking, I hope it was to everyone's liking; Nona Evitts for the wonderful pies & my wife, Mary, for picking up all the necessities for the meal. I would like to give a special thanks to our businesses that donated door prizes, O'Reilly's & Tractor Supply store, both located in Ponca City. Also I would like to thank John Alexander for donating an IH shirt , Tea Box & fishing tackle box for give aways. |

Now on to the business at hand, it was brought to the attention to all present that we did not have much participation last year from members in the club at our first gathering. It was also stated that the member count is down and that to bring it back up we (all) need to participate as a group and we will be noticed more, which in turn should gain interest in our group. MORE INTEREST = MORE MEMBERS. It was also asked of members to plan events. Event information sheets were given out. What the sheets consist of is all the information that Mary & I need to let the other club members know about the event. I hope to see this work and maybe get more participation from everyone. |

Next we discussed the events everyone would like to do this year. As of now, this is what we tentatively have planned for the upcoming year. Ponca City Car Show & Drag for pre 1976 IH's is June 2 & 3rd; Heartland Int'l. Car Show in late July; Kansas Rocks, August 19th & 20th Guthrie Trail Ride, September; Disney, OK in October and Little Sahara in November. |
In February, Richard Thrasher was asked to gather any information on the Kansas Rocks Off road Park. It was thought that we may be able to meet with some of the Heartland International members and have a weekend of fun in Kansas. I want to personally thank Richard for his promptness of information gathered. I think it will really help in providing the rest of the club information on when, where & what is taking place on the weekend chosen. . I was also glad to meet Nathan Zeit, newly elected President of Heartland International. Us Okies can't wait to wheel with you all. Next, all guests and new members introduced themselves. Thanks to Gary Taber for bringing guests, Carl Hardesty & his son Daniel and Jeff Thomure. |
Next, the current officers were named. The floor was opened up for nominations. It was decided to retain current officers. Mike Scherr was nominated as VP. He was not present but all members agreed that if he would be willing to fill the position, Harley Jack would step down. I again would like to thank Jack for his hard work and dedication to the club and maybe sometime this year he'll decide to try 4 wheels again. Vice President will be filled by Mike Scherr if he is willing. |
Members enjoying the meeting and lunch We then proceeded to talk about the Binder Bulletin web site. They have club forums and it was discussed that we should try and get a Southwest Scouts forum. This will allow people to have one specific spot to find out what is happening, when and who is going to be there. As individuals it is free to read & post responses. If you would like to post pictures you will need to sign up as a supporting member. Cost for this is $20.00 annually. Tim Gilpin is going to see about getting this set up for our club. As of writing this, Heartland International President Nathan Zeit had thought this was a good idea and got a forum started for their club. Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think. |
Thanks to all who drove their IH's to the meeting |
Other matters discussed at the meeting were how to get others to join the club. Everyone agreed that if you introduce someone to the club and they decide to join as a paid member, it will reduce your next year's membership fee by $5.00 for each person you get to join. Also, there is a flyer and a business card included with this newsletter, hand these out to drivers of IH owners, put them on a windshield, post in local parts stores or any place you think would draw interest to the club. If you would like more, please let us know and we'll get them to you. |
Congratulations to everyone who won a give away at either the February or March meeting: Kenny Weins, Sandy Weins, Bob Supplee, Jack McClary, Richard Stahl, Mike Scherr, Jack Mitchell, Kim Barwick, Jerry Frazier, Barb Weins, Dick Gilpin, Jerry Page, Rowdy Gilpin, George Barwick, Jeff Thomure, Marvin Peterson, A1 Evitt & Ken Butler. |

Mary & I will be sending notices out about the IS` event of the year. If anyone knows of anything that we all could enjoy, don't hesitate to call or send us a note. Included is a current members list and who has paid for '06. If you still need to pay your 2006 dues, please send them to me at, 54 Coyote Dr., Burbank, OK 74633. Take a look at the previous members. If there are any close to your area, give them a call. It could be $5.00 off your next year's membership fee. Again I would like to thank all that came to the meeting and especially the ones that trekked through the ice & snow and showed up at the first meeting. |

Let us know about it and we'll provide a list in the newsletter for anyone who'd want to get away
for a day or the weekend.
